Lewiston Sportsmen’s Club Annual Awards Rules

  1. The Annual Awards trophy categories are as follows:
    A.  Largest Trout
    B. Largest  Walleye
    C. Largest  Panfish
    D. Largest Turkey – Gun
    E. Largest  Deer – Gun
    F. Largest Turkey – Bow
    G. Largest Deer – Bow
    H. Largest Trout – Catch & Release
    I. Largest Walleye – Catch & Release
    J. Largest Panfish – Catch & Release
    K. Longest Pheasant Tail
    L. Largest Shed Antler
  2. In the hunting categories, the applicant must be a member in good standing prior to the start of the legal hunting season for the category entered. For any fish entry, applicant must be a member in good standing fifteen days prior to the catch date of the entry. A member is any person that is covered under a single membership or a family membership.
  3. All big game, fish, and birds must be legally taken. Turkey and deer must also bear the tag of the person submitting the entry.
  4. For the Largest Shed Antler Award, the single antler with the highest gross score shall be the winner. There is no designation of typical or non-typical. A signed score sheet by a certified measurer and a picture of the antler are required for entry. The antler must be found during the current calendar year.
  5. Boundaries for eligible entries will be all land within the borders of Fillmore, Houston, Olmsted, Wabasha, and Winona counties, except land classified as game-farm land. For fishing awards, all waters within these counties and      the Mississippi River from the Iowa border to the headwaters of Lake Pepin, except those waters classified as domestic/or fish rearing ponds.
  6. All awards will be given in each category on the basis of weight, the heaviest being the winner, with exception of the Pheasant tail, the Catch & Release fish, and the Largest Shed Antler. When entering a Pheasant tail, the longest feather must be removed from the bird by the entrant and given to a member of the club Board of Directors to be measured. For weighted entries, fish may be dressed or undressed, Turkeys may be dressed or undressed, and Deer must be dressed. For the purpose of this contest dressed shall mean the removal of all inner body cavity parts, including heart, lungs, liver, stomach, intestines, kidneys, etc. In the Catch & Release categories, applicant must submit a picture of the catch showing the catch with a tape measure alongside to verify length. All contests requiring weighing need to be done so at a business or public scale such as a bait shop or meat market, etc. The weight slip must be dated and signed by both the entrant and the person weighing the entry, along with the name and address of the business where the scale is located.
  7. Walleye and Panfish Must be caught on or between January 1st and December 31st. The Panfish Award will be for crappies caught in the odd-numbered years and sunfish caught in the even-numbered years.
  8. All Lifetime members are eligible to enter any category.
  9. The Club Board of Directors will make final decisions on any entry where there may be a dispute or questions of fair chase.
  10. The deadline for submitting Award entries is the January Club Meeting following the year in which the game or fish was taken.
  11. These rules may not be changed without authorization of the Board of Directors, followed by acceptance by a two-thirds majority vote at any monthly meeting.
